

.........Temima Gezari is a artist and Educator and for over 60 years worked at the Board of Jewish Education in New York City. Temima was 6 months old when she immigrated from Russia to United States. In 1901 her family left the horrors of Russian persecution on a ship and headed for the USA. The Family settled in Brownsville New York.
..........Brownsville, N. Y. was a poor Jewish immigrant neighborhood. Her Father had a small hardware store and struggled to put food on the table and pay the rent. Temima grow up with little, but was a happy child she loved school and she would soon realize that a good education was the way out of poverty. She would eventually attend Pratt University.
........Temima became an art teacher and thought that art was one of the most important subjects in school. She used art to inspire her students to learn. In 1940, she created the art department at the Board of Jewish Education and has work there tirelessly for over 65 years.
........Temima is a prolific artist and has created thousands of pieces of artwork based
on her life experiences. She uses art as a teaching tool and a way to express her moral and ethical
principals. Temima started sketching and painting and her subjects were her family and life experiences. she experimented with all types of mediums and loved to walk the beach and pick up rocks and create sculptures with them. She has created thousands of various types of sculptures
and her work can be seen all over the world.
