..........Mudding out ! its a new word in the vocabulary of people who live in the gulf coast of Mississippi and Louisiana. If you own a home in Waveland or Bay Saint louis you know what it means and probably had to do it. Mudding out is when you take every thing out of your house and I mean everything and try to salvage what was not destroyed by the flood waters. You start off with removing all of the furniture and tossing it out the door or maybe a convent window including all your clothes in the closets then rip up the carpets and the flooring. In the mean time sorting though everything that you own and deciding its worth saving... most time its not.
.......... It a strange sense of accomplishment when your all done and the entire contents of your home are now in big piles on the lawn or in the street. The house is now a wet shell of the 2x4's stud walls and a roof, you might even feel lucky at lest you have a roof. .This is only the beginning and there's much to, the volunteers have left and you have a shell of a house wondering what to do. Well its a good thing I had insurance ! (you say) But wait was this wind damage or flood damage ? Um.... not sure we'll get back to you .....
..........The area of Bay saint louis and Wavland really got hit hard and thousands of homes had to mudded out and rebuilt. Volunteers rolled up their sleeves and grabbed a shovels and dug in. Churches and volunteer organizations came down by the thousands and took on the dirtest jobs and potentially dangerous with all the viruses and bacteria the could be transmitted by the waste. Its a hard job but someone has to do it. and do it they did and are still doing...
.......... The folks of the gulf needed help, and it all started with the first shovel of mud being scrapped up and tossed out the door and this help hasn't stopped yet cause the jobs not over.
