..................... Thousands of volunteers came down to the coast to help.

..........Hurricane Katrina was one of the worst natural disasters in the history of the united states and the gulf coast from Alabama to New Orleans was effected by the storm.
.........Mississippi was hit hard by the storm and it overwhelmed the local police and fire departments. The resources of the state and local governments were stretched thin and they needed all the help they could get. Thousands of volunteers came to the gulf coast to help.
.........The Red Cross, Salvation Army, Baptist Disaster Relief Services and hundreds of volunteer organizations came to help. Volunteer Camps started springing up in the most devastated areas. Food, water and clothing was being distributed to those who needed it. September 2005 was really tough for tens of thousands of people that were forced from their homes with little or nothing of what they owned. Only to return to a concrete slab and their life memories hanging in the trees or spread over the neighborhood.

. One of the camps that I visited was the Shore Line Baptist Church where volunteers were coming in from all over the country to help out
.
