.........Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast on August 29 2005 and pounded without mercy the coast of Louisiana and Mississippi. The eye of the storm landed over Waveland, Bay Saint Louis and devastated the entire area. Mississippi was in serious trouble miles of neighborhoods were completely destroyed and most of the businesses where damaged and closed
.........High winds and the low pressure of the storm created a hugh wall water that was pushed inland destroying everything in its path. Entire neighborhoods were crushed by this giant 25 foot wall of water.
.........Most of the infrastructure was destroyed. The storm knocked out all of the electricity, shutdown phone service including cell phones and it would months before these services would be restored. Most of the roads were blocked with debris with trees and cars blocking the roads and made it almost impossible to drive through the streets.

I went down to the Gulf Coast two days after the storm and documented the aftermath of the storm...
