Mardi Gras In New Orleans

Krewe du Vieux

Barkus
Pet Parade

..............Krewe du Vieux is a Mardi Gras organization (Krewe) located in New Orleans.

..................Every year the "Krewe du Vieux" Parades through the historic French Quarter with their Mule drawn floats and crazy costumes. Celebrating in the style of the old ways of carnival with a walking parade lead by Jazz bands and followed by small mule drawn or hand pulled floats. This parade is close to the spectators so everyone can feel like their part of the Parade festivities. The Krewe Du Vieux is the only Krewe with parade floats allowed into the French Quarter to parade.

............. Belonging to a Krewe is great fun and can be very serous business with the expense of building elaborate parade floats and buying throws. Some krewe's spend collectively 10's of thousands of dollars on parade floats, costumes and throws (Beads and cups). But not the Krewe du Vieux.

..............The Krewe Du Vieux"
spends hundreds not thousands dollars and use the creative minds of its members to make floats and costumes. As you will see in the Video these costumes are low cost but lots of fun and really turn heads of the parade watchers. This type of creative force can't be bought, it just happens.

Below is a Video Documentary of the Krewe Da Vieux
